Student Council

St. Margaret School encourages participation in Student Council, where each elected student promises to be responsible and respectful role models for the student body. Students learn team work, negotiation, and leadership skills that benefit them long after their term ends.

Students in Grade 8 serve as our Executive Officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Historian, Public Relations). This year, our school will be represented by:

President: Catherine McCormick, 8th

  • Lead all meetings
  • Give assistance, guidance, and praise
  • Act as a facilitator during discussion
  • Maintain frequent contact with faculty and administration
  • Work with advisor on all planning
  • Participate in student council sponsored activities/events

Vice President: Kathleen Beirne, 8th 

  • Work closely with President
  • Assume President’s duties when needed
  • Work with President and Treasurer in preparing calendar and budget
  • Work with advisor on all planning
  • Assist the President in preparing meeting agendas
  • Participate in student council sponsored activities/events

Treasurer: Jewel Caro, 8th

  • Oversee council expenses and revenues
  • Maintain an accurate and detailed financial record
  • Work with President and Vice President in preparing calendar and budget
  • Participate in student council sponsored activities/events

Public Relations Director: Michael Croke, 7th

  • Keep student body informed of events, fundraisers, and service projects
  • Responsible for communication with other clubs
  • Make suggestions for student council website
  • Participate in student council sponsored activities/events

Secretary: Jack DeLoren, 8th

  • Keep an account of minutes at every meeting
  • Keep an accurate account of attendance at every meeting
  • Help maintain student council files
  • Maintain contact information for people who work with the council
  • Responsible for “Thank You’ cards
  • Participate in student council sponsored activities/events

Historian: Kalani Martial, 8th

  • Document Activities of the Council (i.e. Photos, Scrapbooking)
  • Provide information to yearbook staff
  • Participate in student council sponsored activities/events

Class Representatives:

  • Represent their class on campus
  • Maintain frequent contact with executive officers
  • Attend all officer meetings
  • Recruit members for future elections
  • Participate in student council sponsored activities/events
